Becoming a Caregiver

In Pennsylvania, a caregiver is an individual who can pick up medical marijuana at a dispensary on behalf of their patient.

Register on DOH Portal

You'll need a valid driver's license or state issued ID card and a working email address.

Undergo Background Check

You will need to undergo a background check / fingerprinting

After registering, you'll need to undergo a criminal background check and fingerprinting.

 

The registration process will provide further instructions on how to complete the fingerprinting at a location near you.

Receive Approval

You will receive an email with the outcome of your background check

You will receive an email with the outcome of your background check, whether you are approved or not.

 

If you receive approval, you can proceed to the next step. 

Pay for ID Card

After approval, you may pay for your Caregiver ID card through the state portal

If you're approved as a caregiver, you may now pay for your medical marijuana ID card within the 

state portal.

 

This card will enable you to assist patients in obtaining medical marijuana from dispensaries.

By following these four steps and selecting the right registration option, you can become a caregiver in the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program.
